Your guide to week 1 at UNE

Welcome to the University of New England!

It’s normal to feel overwhelmed and have no idea where to start when commencing tertiary study for the first time. We’ve compiled a helpful guide to help you survive your first week of university. Check out our list of tips below and start your UNE journey off on the right foot.

Useful Apps

One of the simplest steps you can take to get acclimatised to your new university lifestyle is to download some handy apps. Here’s what we recommend:

  • UNE Safe App– Your go-to tool for safety at UNE. Stay updated with campus notices, access maps, report incidents in seconds, and request Safety & Security services like a friend walk or campus security pickup—all from your phone. Available on both IOS and Android.
  • Lost on Campus– A virtual map of both the UNE Armidale and UNE Sydney campuses. Never run late because you can’t find the right building or room. Download for IOS or Android.
  • UniDays– Being a student comes with perks. One of those being discounts! UniDays offers student discounts across 200+ brands. Simply register using your UNE email address and shop conveniently from anywhere. Available for IOS or Android.

Useful Websites

Arguably one of the most important aspects of university life is learning how to access your course content and manage your time. Here are four pages you’ll want to bookmark to make your life easier:

  • My UNE– Your direct hub of everything related to your studies. Check and update your enrolment or catch up on the latest student news.
  • UNE myLearn– This is where you’ll be doing the bulk of your learning. Access all of your unit content, join virtual classrooms and submit your assessment pieces.
  • UNE Timetable– Find out the rooms and times of your classes all in one place. Save yourself the overwhelm and plan out your weekly schedule before the new trimester starts.
  • UNE Principal Dates– A list of all the key dates in the UNE calendar. From trimester start and end dates to census dates and holiday periods, this calendar has all the important stuff. Take note and keep it handy.
