A Guide to Scholarships at UNE
Scholarships can make a huge difference in covering the costs of study, from textbooks and accommodation to general living expenses. Whether you’re a new or continuing student, there are plenty of opportunities to apply for financial support at UNE.
Did you know UNE offers scholarships and prizes for commencing, continuing, higher research, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, and international students?
Let’s explore!
Scholarships can be worth thousands and are available to students who:
- Are high academic achievers
- Come from rural areas
- Are studying specific degrees
- Are from disadvantaged groups
- Excel at sports
- Live in a residential college
How to apply for scholarships:
- Check the UNE Scholarships, Prizes, and Awards page. Visit the site regularly to see what’s available.
- Find relevant scholarships. Click on the current or upcoming Trimester and scroll through the list. Each scholarship includes details such as:
- Name, value, and timeframe
- Status (open/closed)
- Background or donor information
- Amount and period covered
- Closing date (important!)
- Eligibility and selection criteria
- Required supporting documents
- Application process
If nothing stands out now, make sure to check back later as new scholarships are posted regularly.
- Apply using the UNE Scholarship Application Form.
- The form will ask for course and financial details.
- You’ll need to respond to five statements explaining why the scholarship is relevant to you, be honest and authentic!
- Some scholarships may require supporting documents like referee reports or proof of financial need. Check the breakdown page to see what’s needed.
- Get your application reviewed. If you’d like an Advocate to check your application before submitting, email it to advocacy@une.edu.au, and we’ll provide feedback.
- Submit your completed application to scholarships@une.edu.au. Pat yourself on the back, you did it!
If you don’t hear back, don’t be discouraged. Not every applicant gets a scholarship, but you can apply for multiple scholarships and try again next trimester or year. Many students succeed on their second or third attempt!
