Today is all about getting to know UNE
The sessions you complete today are about the following topics, and relate to your time at UNE, ensuring you and your fellow students make the most of your time, get to experience extracurricular activities, and know where to reach out to for support when and if you need it.
Be a Better Human & Mental Health
The BaBH initiative was created with a group of students from the ground up, to reflect our campus culture and what we think everyone needs to appreciate – consent, respect and empathy.
UNE Life’s General Manager, Ben Bible will introduce you to this campaign. We don’t just want it to be about what we shouldn’t do; we want it to be about self-improvement for everyone. And when we say ‘everyone’, we really do mean everyone. We’re encouraging everyone who is part of our campus community to take a moment and consider how we can ‘better’ our behaviour.
UNE Counselling Services
This session will introduce the UNE Counselling and Psychological Service which is free for all current students. The team will give an overview of what the service offers including the benefits of proactive help seeking.
Access & Inclusion
This session is about assisting you in reaching your full academic potential regardless of injuries, disabilities, mental health, extra curricular activities, illness, learning difficulties, or many other circumstances you might face as a student.
Clubs & Societies, Advocacy and MBPT & SFK
Getting involved in Club life is the best thing you can do to make sure your time at UNE is both enjoyable and worthwhile. Whether it’s through your College club (JCR) or one of our 35 Hobby, Academic clubs, or Sports clubs we’ve got your social life and professional development covered.
James Hudson, will run you through our clubs plus outline the new exciting “Friday Nights Under Lights” Intercollege Sporting Competition (MB/PT) which is sure to be the biggest social happening each month in 2021.

UNE 101
Starting your journey at university can feel a bit overwhelming – there’s a lot of information to take in, and it might feel a bit challenging to keep up. UNE101 is your Orientation, in our online space (Moodle), for you to work through at your own pace. It’s important to get familiar with Moodle as this is where all of your academic learning will take place, and UNE101 is a safe place to play around, test out the functions and ask any questions that you can think of in the forums. It also holds essential academic information from your Schools to work through before classes begin next week, so dig in and get prepared. You’ll keep access to this unit for your whole first year of study, so it’s an easy place to come back to for any information you’ll need to keep you on the right track!

Scholarships
As a student at UNE, there are many opportunities to apply for financial assistance whilst you’re studying – Scholarships and Awards! In this session, we will run you through the benefits and the range of Scholarships available.
Where to go when things go wrong
You’re never alone at UNE. No matter who you are, or where you are in life, everyone faces struggles at some point in their life. This session will equip you with the information you need on how to access multiple channels of support and people that can help and assist you as a student.
Making the most of your time at UNE
Deciding to go to University is a big decision in anyone’s life. During the next few years, you’ll be investing not only your money but also your time to create the future you dream of.
But how can you ensure that that’s the future you’ll graduate to? Tania Court, TuneFM’s Station Manager (and provider of a ridiculous number of professional references for UNE students) will be giving you her top tips to make sure you make the most of your time at UNE, and point you in the right direction for help, should you ever need it your time as a student.
All-day | Everyone online & on campus
Make sure you check out the UNE Student Social Directory, so you can connect with other students and follow your cohorts updates!

Today is going to be fun. Get ready for action because this morning we will bring you Sports Olympiad at SportUNE.
9.00am @ SportUNE | All students
Head down the hill for a few team activities and to check out their facilities. This is your chance to have some fun! We know yesterday was a tad serious. So, get your activewear on and meet us for some college cheer.
You may have also heard us banging on about the colour run, and the white T-shirt you received in your goodie bag… unfortunately this weather means all of the colour will turn into something like goo – which isn’t ideal {insert unhappy student experience team faces here}. So, we’re moving the colour run to later in the year when the weather is a little more predictable, so make sure you hold onto those T-shirts and follow UNE Life for the event details!
