UNE Graduation Glossary
With graduation not too far away we thought we’d make it a bit easier for you guys with a little bit of a cheat sheet on the terms you will likely hear in the lead up to grad and exactly what they mean.
Now, we also know that this grad is still a little different to our usual and “in person” ceremonies. But we’re hoping that you can visit safely soon so we can celebrate your remarkable achievements together. That being said, we have also included a few descriptions of our beautiful campus – which many of you haven’t yet had the chance to visit yet! These on campus terms will come to life when you step foot on campus for our catch-up ceremonies that will hopefully come to life soon!!!
Booloominbah Historic House Lawns
This is our original building. Booloominbah was built (completed) in 1888. Today it still stands as one of the most prominent buildings of the university and its lawns often host our outdoor graduation ceremonies in warmer months. When the weather doesn’t permit, we usually move the celebrations into Lazenby Hall.

Lazenby Hall is a multipurpose theatre hall on campus, and it’s usually where our indoor graduation ceremonies are held. It is a fitting location as this is where most students have their orientation to the university and sit most of their exams! Unfortunately, the space doesn’t allow enough COVID-Safe spacing for this graduation, but the Graduation Team are working on alternatives for the future!
